Desktop tools

The open-source edition does not require registration, purchases, license keys, or device activation. Local formatting, conversion, clipboard, image, and file tools process data on your device. Preferences and tool data are stored locally.

Network features you use

The HTTP client sends requests to the servers you select. Downloading updates, voice models, and runtimes contacts their distribution services. Local Whisper transcription processes audio on your device after installation. Optional capture sharing uploads only the captures you choose to share.

Update checks contact GitHub and can be disabled in Settings. GitHub and other service providers may receive ordinary request metadata, including an IP address. The website also requests public GitHub repository statistics.

Website and shared captures

The website no longer uses its previous Google Analytics or PostHog integrations. Hosting providers may retain operational request logs. If you use capture sharing, the server stores the selected media and its sharing settings until expiration or deletion. Do not upload private material you do not want to share.

Historical purchases

Older commercial versions used purchase and device activation records. The open-source edition does not use those records to control access. Contact hi@devkithub.com about historical purchase data or privacy requests.
